We protect your privacy
The Terry Fox Foundation recognizes your right to privacy and pledges to protect it. The Terry Fox Foundation is aware of our responsibilities under the federal Personal Information and Electronics Documents Act (PIPEDA)
Use of Information
We do not rent, sell or trade our mailing lists. The information you provide will be used to send you information by email or mail to keep you informed of activities of the Terry Fox Foundation including but not limited to special events, cancer research projects and advancements, opportunities to volunteer or to give, as well as the Terry Fox Runs and National School Day Runs.
When visiting our web site, our web server automatically logs (records) domain name and standard information about the operating system and web browser you are using, as provided by your web browser. This information is used for statistical purposes to help us manage our site, but it does not identify you in any way.
We collect personal information about you only if you volunteer it to make a purchase and/or register online for an event and/or make a donation. We use this information to send you receipts, allow you to log in, contact you for support purposes, or to answer questions you submit to the site. All information is kept confidential.
Participants and Online Pledging
When you register to accept pledges online, you are agreeing that we can make your name available for members of the public to pledge to. For community runs and Great Canadian Hair "Do" events, donors can search for you by name, and find which event you are participating in.
However, to protect the privacy of our underage participants, note that you cannot search by name for participants in the School Run. To view the participant's name or donate to them, you must know their participant code. The participant code is a random code that does not contain any personally identifying information. Only the participant can give out their own participant code, either in person or via e-mail invitations.
The Terry Fox Foundation uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to ensure the integrity and privacy of the personal and credit card information you provide when you make an online donation, make a purchase or register for an event.
We maintain records of all contributions to the Terry Fox Foundation. All information is kept private and confidential, stored in a secure location and accessible only by authorized staff.
During the check-out process, you will be forwarded to a Moneris payment page where, for purposes of billing, you will need to provide your credit card type, number, and expiration date. For security purposes you may also need to provide the billing address for the card. If your order is to be shipped, we also need the name, address and phone number of the intended recipient(s). Your credit card information is used only for donations and purchases of products from the Terry Fox Foundation and will not be used for any other purpose. We do not retain any information about your credit card after you make an online payment.
