My name is Trudy. I am a 43 year old women with. I have been doing the Terry Fox run for lots of years and my mom has always helped me. Terry Fox is my hero. Every time I see something about Terry I get very emotional and very happy. Terry Fox has taught me that I can do anything. I always know that Terry is looking down on me from heaven. I love Terry Fox. I have all the walls in my room covered in pictures and own his book.
In memory of my mother, Christine Bettencourt as dictated to me.
by Glemena Bettencourt - I wanted to share with everyone that one of my mum`s sources of strength during her illness was from a picture of Terry posted in her hospital room. Mum will be laid to rest with a Terry Fox coin in her hand. My two heroes will reuni, posted on 7:03 AM, December 27, 2011
My special day with Terry Fox

The day (July 30th 1980) I spent with Terry Fox began with me waking up thinking about the brave young man running across Canada to find a cure for cancer. Terry had experienced cancer, he lost his leg too, but he was determined to do the run. He had a dream and he set out to achieve it. My daughter Glemena Bettencourt called me and asked me if I would like to join her and spend the day with her and Terry. I was ecstatic to meet the young man who was showing the world that it is possible to stand up to cancer.

When I first met Terry I gave him a hug and shook his hand and wondered how this young man was going to be able to achieve this difficult task. Once he began running it was clear that he was going to do it, he had the most determination one could ever imagine in such a young man.

As he was running people were all gathering along the road looking at him in wonderment. They were running up and cheering him on. Being as it was a lovely day, my thoughts went to what he was going to do when the weather wasn’t quite as nice. Watching him I knew nothing was going to stop him especially not any bad weather. Soon Terry would finish his running for the day. Terry completed 26 miles, WOW! I witnessed him run a Marathon….a Marathon of Hope!

As Terry sat down to have his dinner at a picnic table, I was amazed at the extremely large appetite he had. You would think someone one who ate so much would be overweight, but I know he needed a great amount of fuel for his extremely difficult task. While he was eating I remember Terry spilling some red sauce on his sock. He joked to my daughter Glemena that he’s going to need a new sock so people wouldn’t start thinking his wooden leg was injured. I was so impressed with Terry’s ability to keep his sense of humor and be in such good spirits.

As Terry was having his dinner, my daughter Glemena presented him with a belated birthday gift, which he opened as we all sat at the picnic table talking about his day, Terry was truly touched, and I am so blessed we have photographs of this wonderful memory.

Terry ran for all of us. It is now in our hands to continue his dream. I am so proud of my daughter Glemena, for staying involved with this foundation as she has. I will remember this day forever, because I was so touched by courageous Terry…. who had a heart of gold.

My Daughter: Inspiring Others On Her Journey With Cancer
by Madeline Strang, posted on 9:54 AM, December 18, 2011
My daughter, 44 year old Florence Jarvis, is the most positive person I know. No matter what life throws at her....divorce, single parenting, having a child with autism.....she handles it with grace, and an optimistic attitude. She can find the silver lining behind even the darkest of clouds. Her positive attitude was really put to the test in April, 2011 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Rather than let herself get down however, Florence dedicated herself to cheering up other cancer warriors/survivors with her humorous and inspirational blog www.perksofcancer.com

Florence is a Psychologist by profession, and when she had to come off work in April due to her illness, she told me that a big part of her life was missing. This blog not only gives her a sense of fulfillment and job satisfaction, but it allows her to do what she does best: help others. Here are some of the many comments which have been made about her blog:

“ Mom is doing round 1 of chemo. She has had a hard few days. Your blog, bravery, attitude, and humour, helps not just her, but all of us. She is expecting to lose her hair which is hard for her but your blog has allowed us to joke and laugh about it.” (Gwen)

“You are a big inspiration to me. When I was 14 my mom was diagnosed with cancer, and 8 months later she passed away. I know for a fact that if she was here today she would read all your blogging perks and smile and say, "she’s right". Thank you for making my day.” (Cheyenne )

Please read Florence’s blog www.perksofcancer.com and you will see for yourself what an inspiration this woman is to others!

I am a parent of a child who survived cancer and I am very proud of what you are doing...It is the positive attitude, great family support, the love of Jesus internally and a healthy diet, lots of red fruits and vegetable and a drink from the health food store called cell food as a daily staple that will help chase out the cancer... no white bread, rice or sweets and no sugar unless it is natural honey.. eco magnetism also create neg ions that stunt any regrowth of cancer cells, I wish you luck on your journey to good health and love to you and your family during the Xmas season,

We'd just like you to know that the second given name of our new son Ryder Fox Edwards was chosen in honour of Terry .. one of our true heroes. We'll never forget the images of him courageously working his way along the highway with a police car following in the darkness. Terry was something special, and we hope Ryder will be too.
