The Event: Run or Walk?

Schools hold Terry Fox events which include runs and walks, skate-a-thons, designated hockey games, bake sales or any other activity that you choose.

HOW available are the services of The Terry Fox Foundation?

Feel free to call your provincial office year-round (summers included!) to discuss how to organize a fundraising event. Our provincial directors and school coordinators are available to provide advice, suggestions and support to assist you in planning and promoting your school's event.

Materials

The Terry Fox Foundation provides all promotional materials free of charge to registered schools. This includes videos and posters, among many other items. Guest speakers: Speakers can be arranged to visit your school before, during or after your event to promote awareness of the need to support cancer research.

In keeping with Terry's own motivation to run across Canada, we ask that all schools that register with the Foundation ensure that some level of fundraising is done. While awareness of cancer research was important to Terry, he did not run simply to bring attention to the problem of insufficient funding; he did it to raise as much money as he could to help find a cure.

Sharing Terry's story of courage and determination is a powerful and important tool in the classroom and we encourage schools to use his example. We do also ask, however, that your students honour his example by raising funds for the cause in which Terry believed so strongly.

Pledge Sheets

We will provide your school with a reproduction-quality school pledge sheet to satisfy your requirements. We will also provide a school kit which contains written organizational instructions and suggestions. We assign a number to all registered sites for administrative purposes so note your site number for future reference.

Donations to students may be made online via the online pledging function by clicking here. Online pledging is fast, easy and paperless.

Students can also create a personal fundraising page and invite family and friends to pledge them by clicking here. 

Will our school's supporters receive receipts?

Yes! All receipts are issued directly from the national office of the Foundation. All donations of at least $20.00 are automatically receipted from submitted pledge sheets. We will receipt donations under $20.00 upon request.

Our Policy

Along with all pledged donations, monies derived from the sale of foods or any items at your Terry Fox event, promoted through the use of Terry Fox materials, must be donated in full to the Terry Fox Foundation. If you use Terry's name (e.g. Terry Fox Walk or Terry Fox Activity Day) to promote your event and raise funds, you must forward all donations in full to the Terry Fox Foundation.
