Terry Fox Run Hong Kong Join us for the 5th annual community Terry Fox Run held in Hong Kong. The Terry Fox Run Hong Kong aims to continue Terry Fox's “Marathon of Hope” and keep his aspiration of a world free of cancer alive. Since its debut in 2013, the Terry Fox Run is becoming one of the key charity events for both Canadians and locals in Hong Kong. The Terry Fox Run is completely volunteer-organized, with no budget for expenses and all proceeds going to support cure-oriented, biomedical cancer research in Hong Kong. The event is a 3 km, 5 km or 10 km non-competitive, family-oriented run or walk. Support this important cause, while getting fit, having fun and meeting new people! Mt. Terry Fox Trek Sunday Aug. 19 - Valemont, BC Join the Adventure How to register You can register online by clicking here or by clicking the Join the Adventure button above. You will be guided to set up your personal fundraising page where you can easily ask friends and family to support efforts. You will also have a chance to purchase a limited edition "Mt. Terry Fox Trek" T-Shirt during registration. Fitness/Hiking level There are three different routes to choose from all with different fitness/hiking requirements. Viewpoint is for hikers with a moderate fitness and hiking level. Middle destination is for mid-levers to advanced hikers and the summit is for experienced hikers only. Where do I stay There are several hotels/motels in the area but rooms fill up fast due to Canada's 150th Birthday,all Parks Canada places are free. We urge you to book your accommodation right away. http://visitvalemount.ca/stay/ What to Bring Please be prepared in what you need to bring with you taking into consideration which route you are doing and how long you will be on the mountain. Some things to consider are: · Very warm down or fleece jacket · Rain proof wear · Good hiking boots and gators · Hiking poles are recommended · Lots of water. Those that are doing the Summit and Monument should bring at least 3 litres of water. The First Sub Peak route requires between 2 litres and the View Point requires about 1 litre. · Lots of food!! Be sure you bring enough to sustain yourself on your journey. You should consider more than you may normally eat for lunch, ie two sandwiches, energy bars, veggies, trail [...]
